英文教授：馬說decades沒錯

馬英九總統接受「亞洲華爾街日報」專訪時，因為「decades」被誤聽為「decade」引發討論。立委蔡同榮昨天說，「decade」 絕對沒有複數的用法，文法不對等。不過，英文系教授說，「decades」很常用，馬英九的文法也沒有問題。

馬英九總統接受「亞洲華爾街日報」專訪時表示，「兩岸能否如大陸所期待達成統一，端視未來數十年（in the next decades）情勢的發展」，該報原刊載是「decade」。但總統府的說明，被蔡同榮指稱用法有誤。

政治大學英文系教授陳超明說，decade是可數名詞，當然可以加s，一般常用「for decades」來表達「數十年」，馬英九用「in the next decades」雖比較少見，但文法也沒有問題，不知道這有什麼好爭論的，難道意識型態會影響英文用法嗎？

世新大學英文系教授李振清表示，decade當然可以當複數使用，這連國中生都知道，隨便上網查都能查到答案，包括歐巴馬總統、已故的黑人民權領袖馬丁路德金，都曾在他們的演講中，提到「for decades」（幾十年來） ，顯見使用複數完全沒錯，「欲加之罪何患無辭」。
